Apple heeft gesproken: iPad
Ja, het nieuws is inmiddels wereldwijd doorgebroken, de drukte op twitter en op diverse weblogs is nauwelijks te volgens. Steve Jobs ontvouwde vandaag Apple’s nieuwste product: de iPad. Leverbaar vanaf maart (3G maand later)
In vogelvlucht de belangrijkste gegevens:
– 9,7″ LED IPS(*) scherm 1024 x 768 (technologie ook in de nieuwe iMac 21.5″)
– 1GHz Apple A4 chip
– 1,25 cm dik, 700 gram
– batterij gaat 10 uur mee, maand standby
– speakers en microfoon
– accelerometer en kompass
– bluetooth, EDR en wifi en 3G ($30/maand bij AT&T??)
– nog geen geïntegreerde iSight camera (???)
– 16 tot 64 GB memory (flash)
– touchscreen
– sync met iTunes
– iPhone apps draaien op iPad
– SDK verschijnt vandaag
– keyboard dock
– multitasking niet bekend, dus ook geen specs over iPhone OS 4 voor de iPad (tot nu toe)
Overige wetenswaardigheden:
– New York Times launch of on-iPad newspaper (business model ’to be announced’)
– meerdere uitgevers gaan de iPad als publicatie platform ondersteunen, waaronder Penguin, Macmillan, Hachette, Simon & Schusteren, Harper Collins.

(*)IPS – in-plane switching…. the liquid crystals are aligned horizontally instead of on an angle. This procress greatly increases vertical viewing angles. When coupled with the high brightness and contrast of the glaretype displays, color reproduction is almost perfect. Basically it becomes a 1/4″ professional graphics flat CRT monitor…. which is why the display is primarily for those in professional graphics.
